A study published in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism stated that women who take more steps daily have a significantly lower risk of developing symptoms of diabetes.
According to statistics, every 1 in 9 adult women has type 2 diabetes. It is an acquired form of diabetes caused by unhealthy lifestyles and dietary habits, leading to high blood sugar levels.
The condition can be managed by eating a healthy diet, consuming no sugar, getting sufficient sleep, and exercising regularly.
If it remains unmanaged, type 2 diabetes leads to life-threatening complications such as kidney failure, blindness, heart attacks, and bone deterioration.
The scientists examined how walking impacts type 2 diabetes using various fitness trackers and wearable gadgets. The results revealed that women who were physically more active and engaged in a daily physical routine were more immune to type 2 diabetes than others.
The follow-up results after 4 years showed women with a daily average of around 10,000 steps had a 44% lower risk of type 2 diabetes than those with a daily average of 6000 steps.
